Nothing makes a home feel warm and cozy like apples baking in the oven. This apple crisp is just like grandma used to make but without the gluten. Of course this recipe is simple and you’ll be able to prepare the ingredients in a jiffy. The perfect quick addition to an evening meal or coffee with friends!
Ingredients
- 6 apples sliced (I remove the skins and spiral slice about a 1/4” thick. Honeycrisp is my apple of choice)
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup 1:1 gluten-free flour (I used Bobs Red Mill)
- 1/2 cup chilled butter
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350F & grease a 9×9 baking dish or 9” pie plate. Layer your sliced apples in the pan and sprinkle with 1 tsp of cinnamon and the white sugar. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, rolled oats, flour, and remaining cinnamon. Slice your chilled butter into 1/4” pieces and add into your mixture. Press and mix the butter into the dry mix until a nice crumble forms (I find it easiest to use my hands but you could also use a pastry cutter). Layer the crumble on top the apples. Bake for 40-50 minutes until the apples are bubbling and the edges are golden.
Enjoy!
