About

Hi, I’m LaNay!

I’m a farmer/homesteader who works alongside my husband while also raising our babies at home. My husband has celiac disease and both our kiddos carry one of the genes, so I cook all our food gluten-free.

I grow, raise, preserve, and cook the majority of our food from scratch. I’m here in this space to not only share the simple joys of life but to also help you become more confident in your ability to feed your own family good wholesome food – even without gluten.

A few of the topics you’ll likely run into around here: gardening, animals, cooking from scratch, *gluten-free*, thrifting, raising babies, homebirth, homemade & homegrown.

Our Story

We have the ability to “turn on or off” our genes. What I mean by that is that through lifestyle changes & being intentional with what we eat, we can carry a specific genetic marker but not see the negative effects. I learned about this in my early early days of understanding how plants can heal the body, and I have seen it play out in our family.

When my husband was diagnosed with Celiac Disease almost 10 years ago, cooking gluten-free was not really a “thing.” So figuring out how to navigate life without gluten was a challenge to say the least.

But here’s what I have learned:

1. We needed to focus on eating foods that are naturally gluten-free. Things like fruits, veggies, legumes, & meats are all naturally gluten-free foods.

2. We needed to use SIMPLE gluten-free recipes – like the ones you’ll find here. These recipes have helped me to feel CONFIDENT in my ability to cook & bake gluten-free foods that are delicious! These recipes are family favorites- tried & true. My prayer through all of this is that you find blessing in what has already blessed our family so greatly.

Simple.

I always have little feet dancing next to me and often stop for many breaks while cooking & baking – potty breaks, snack time, hugs… you get the picture. So the recipes you find here will be ones that are indeed simple.

Delicious.

Just because we are cooking without gluten doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice flavors. The recipes you find here have become family favorites of ours, and you’re sure to love them, too.

Homemade.

There’s nothing that tastes better or nourishes our bodies more than homemade food. We are going back to our roots and cooking from scratch, and I would love to show you how to do the same without gluten.

Recipes like Mom used to make – without the gluten.

The Gluten-Free Made Simple Cookbook – where gluten-free baking is no longer complicated. My desire to share these recipes with you comes from a long journey, of almost 10 years now, learning to bake without gluten. Celiac Disease is present in 3 generations of our family, and our children each carry one of the genes that are connected to the autoimmune disease. It was time to share the recipes that have come from years of baking to feed our family.
